Who We Are

Dr. Ginny Webb

Associate Professor, Microbiology

As a microbiologist, I am very passionate about infectious disease education. Vaccination awareness and access is vital in our community to reach herd immunity and improve public health. I was thrilled to work on this digital story of sharing “why I got vaccinated” stories. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Reem and Andres who did wonderful work capturing the individual stories of people from both in and out of our community. Educating the community about the science behind vaccination is important to allow individuals to make the most informed decisions for themselves.

Hello everyone,

I’m Andres and I’m majoring in biology, pre-medicine with a minor in Spanish/English translation and interpretation. When I heard about this project, I believed it was such a great opportunity to create awareness about the vaccine throughout our whole community, not only for the English speaking community, but also for the Spanish speaking community. I was born in Medellin, Colombia and moved to the US when I was 14 years old. As a member of the Spanish speaking community, I am aware of the lack of resources we have when it comes to COVID-19 and its vaccine; therefore we decided to take this opportunity to connect different cultures and to display the different reasons of why they decided to get vaccinated. This project allowed us to be inclusive and to create awareness in an intercultural way.

Hello Upstate Family,

I'm a biology pre-medical major with a psychology minor. In this project, we wanted to further educate everyone on the importance of vaccines. Therefore, I was ecstatic to be a part of this amazing project.I think the importance of the vaccine is to create herd immunity towards the COVID-19 virus. This project was intended to include different types of individuals regardless of their political and/or religious beliefs. Simply, how did each individual help to beat the pandemic.  Personally, I got vaccinated because I wanted to keep all my loved ones safe.
